Build a Monthly Financial Report Template System with AI
Step 1: Export your client's monthly P&L from QuickBooks
- In QuickBooks, go to Reports → Profit and Loss
- Set the date range to the current month
- Click Customize → under Rows/Columns, select Show non-zero rows to clean up the report
- Click Run Report
- Note the key numbers: Total Revenue, Total Cost of Goods Sold (if applicable), Top expense categories, Total Expenses, Net Income, and any significant line items
You don't need to export a file — just note the key numbers you'll paste into AI.
What you should see: A clean P&L with totals by category. Focus on the big numbers and anything unusual.
